Shrewsbury Town 1 Rotherham 0
Saturday 4th September 2010, 4:56PM BST.
An early goal from Lionel Ainsworth saw Shrewsbury Town edge to a tense victory over fellow high-flyers Rotherham to send Graham Turner’s side to the top of League Two.
Ainsworth struck in the fourth minute, sliding home from 12 yards after sterling work from Craig Disley.
Ian Sharps and Sean McAlliser both went close to doubling the Town lead in the opening period but Rotherham were the better side in after the break.
Goalkeeper Chris Neal made three fine saves from Adam Le Fondre, substitute Paul Warne and Kevin Ellison to preserve the Town advantage.
And, with leaders Torquay going down to a 2-1 defeat at Southend, it means Graham Turner’s side went top of the table.
