Young footballers in Shrewsbury got some tips from the very top when legendary striker Kenny Dalglish called in to watch a tournament which marked their club’s third anniversary.
The former Liverpool player was at the five-a-side pitches in the grounds of Shrewsbury Town FC’s Greenhous Meadow yesterday for the Meole Brace Community FC tournament against local rivals.
The tournament was held to mark the Meole Brace club’s third anniversary.
Mr Dalglish was on hand to oversee the proceedings and present prizes to the players, who are aged between 12 and 16.
The Meole Brace team was set up three years ago by local police officer Darren Smith and is sponsored by Bob Beckett, manager of the Meole Brace McDonald’s restaurant.
Mr Dalglish praised the efforts of all involved.
