Shrewsbury 1 Aldershot 1

Shrewsury’s 100 per cent start to the season was brought to an end by Aldershot at the Greenhous Meadow – but their unbeaten record remains intact.

Town were held to a 1-1 draw by the visitors as their hopes of winning the first four games of a season for the first time in their Football League history was dashed.

Shrewsbury took the lead on 28 minutes when Ian Sharps was on hand to head home an in-swinging free-kick from Mark Wright.

But their advantage lasted just three minutes before Anthony Charles levelled, firing home from 10 yards after Marvin Morgan had headed down a corner from Ben Harding.

Aldershot ended the first half strongly but it was Shrewsbury who set the tempo after the break with Lionel Ainsworth, Steve Leslie and Matt Harrold all going close to snatching a winner.

But the afternoon ended on a sour note for the hosts when Harrold was sent off for a second yellow card in injury time.

Made the 500 mile round trip for the Aldershot match with my wife. Still to many foul mouthed individuals attending to make it a true family event. Some of the language belongs back in the dark ages of the 70′s / 80′s.Shame, the team deserve better and so do the attending kids than to hear obnoxious minority in the West Stand
