Wolves purtuit of Michael Mancienne remains deadlocked
Wednesday 28th July 2010, 11:52AM BST.
Wolves boss Mick McCarthy today admitted his pursuit of Chelsea’s Michael Mancienne remains deadlocked.
McCarthy insisted he knew nothing of the reported transfer request lodged by Mancienne but reiterated he must sell players before he can buy.
Wolves are prepared to pay up to £4m to land the 22-year-old but, as McCarthy admitted, they still must shed some of his 28-strong senior squad before they can add to their six summer signings.
Regarding the latest twist on Mancienne, McCarthy said: “I guess people should ask Carlo Ancelotti whether we should read anything into the transfer request.
“And if I was reading anything into it, I suggest he wants a transfer.
“But that’s the first I’ve heard about it.”
