Big crowd to cheer on TNS against Anderlecht
Tuesday 27th July 2010, 12:49PM BST.
Up to 2,000 people are expected to cheer on Shropshire minnows The New Saints as they bid to tame Belgian Champions Anderlecht, in their historic Champions League clash tonight.
The home tie for the Oswestry-based Welsh Premier side will be held at Wrexham’s Racecourse ground.
General manager Ian Williams said tickets would be sold up until kick-off and urged fans to get behind the club.
More than 1,000 tickets have already been snapped up by home fans with 200 going to Anderlecht.
Free children’s tickets have been popular with families, schools and young people’s organisations.
Vouchers were distributed in the last week and for each £10 ticket sold adults can use up to four of the free child vouchers.
Mr Williams said a few free seats were still available if people took their vouchers along tonight.
Tickets will be on sale at the club’s Venue ground at Park Hall until 5pm and at the Racecourse until kick-off.
“The Wrexham club shop is allowing us to sell our club scarves and other memorabilia before the game,” Mr Williams said.
The New Saints’ mascot, Spot the Dog is expected to put in an appearance at the Racecourse.
