Wolves have been put on alert amid reports that £4m target Michael Mancienne has lodged a transfer request at Chelsea.

Boss Mick McCarthy is keen to add Mancienne and St Etienne midfielder Guirane N'Daw to the six arrivals at Molineux this summer, although the club have not initiated the latest twist in developments.

McCarthy still has to sell players before he can buy, and with no immediate prospect of any sales, Mancienne's return is not as straightforward as it seems.

Wolves, however, appear to have a head start on any potential suitors after the former England Under-21 international declared Wolves as his preference.

"I've been at Chelsea since I was a kid and I'd love to break into the first team, but it's hard for any young player knowing how much quality they've got," said Mancienne.

Frustrated

"I've had two seasons on loan at Wolves and had regular games and really enjoyed it. Now I want to be settled at one club."

Meanwhile, Wolves, who prepare to welcome back £2.5m new-boy Steven Mouyokolo to full training this week, were frustrated after red tape prevented George Elokobi travelling to Belgium at the weekend.

Despite living in England for the last six years, the Cameroon-born left-back had to apply for visas to visit Ireland and Belgium and there was not enough time to get both, forcing the 24-year-old to miss the 2-1 win over Charleroi.

"It's the ridiculous nature of having to get a visa when he works in one European country but couldn't travel to another," said McCarthy.

"He got his visa to travel to Ireland, but he needed a week to get his visa for Belgium and there wasn't enough time. It's strange that he lives and plays in Europe and yet he needs a visa to travel to another European country."

Mouyokolois finally ready to return to action after his ankle injury. "He'll be back in full training again this week," said McCarthy.
