Shropshire’s Ed Foster says Minor Counties places still up for grabs

Shropshire cricket captain Ed Foster insists leading places in the Minor Counties Championship remain up for grabs, writes JAMES GARRISON.
Shropshire find themselves in a share of fourth position in the 10-team western division after yesterday’s near washout at Whitchurch forced the three-day game with Cornwall to be abandoned on the final afternoon.
Some 16 points separate Shropshire from leaders Dorset, with the final two games for Foster’s side coming against the teams in second and third, Berkshire and Cheshire.
“There are two games to go and it’s wide open,” said Foster. “Having the rain yesterday was very frustrating because there was an interesting game on the cards.
“Looking at the forecast it was pretty inevitable the rain was going to arrive so now we just have to get as many points as we can out of the last two games and see where it takes us.”
Shropshire were well placed on 171-2 in their second innings – a lead of 121 – when the rain arrived.
