Allscott rewrite the cricket league record books

Big hitting Allscott have re-written the record books for the Marston’s Shropshire Premier League after going run crazy, writes JAMES GARRISON.
They racked up a massive 453-7 in their home game against Trysull & Seisdon on Saturday, the highest team score in the league’s 40-year history.
It was all the more remarkable as Allscott found themselves in trouble at 34-2 after 10 overs before the fireworks began.
“It was unbelievable to watch,” said Allscott spokesman Chris Starling.
“The ball was disappearing to all parts throughout the afternoon and we are very proud as a club of what we achieved.
“We batted the 50 overs because we wanted to beat our club record score (of 449 against Acton Reynald in the 2008 FBC Manby Bowdler League) and we did it in the last over.”
Opener Carl Starling led the way with a spectacular 167. His innings included 18 fours and 11 sixes and, after taking 42 deliveries to reach 50, the remaining 117 came off just 46 balls. Jason Allen hit an unbeaten 101-ball 150 which included 18 fours and six sixes.
League chairman Mike Robinson said: “It has got to be a record. I can’t believe any other team have scored more than 450. It’s a magnificent achievement.”
But the run spree wasn’t enough to give Allscott a victory Trysull clung on for a draw after finishing on 230-8.
