Shropshire in Minor Counties blow
Thursday 1st July 2010, 6:38PM BST.
Shropshire’s cricketers have been dealt a double hammer blow in their quest for Minor Counties Championship glory.
Shrewsbury duo Michael Barnard and Rob Foster have been ruled out of this weekend’s three-day western division trip to Oxfordshire which begins on Sunday.
Both were named in the original starting XI but pace bowler Barnard continues to be troubled with the groin problem which has left him sidelined for three weeks, while off-spinning allrounder Foster has a hip injury.
“It has been decided that both Mike and Rob won’t play any cricket this weekend,” said Shropshire and Shrewsbury captain Ed Foster. “It’s a massive blow for us.”
Foster and the rest of the Shropshire selectors were today working on sorting out replacements for the game at Great & Little Tew.
Shropshire begin the weekend with a one-point advantage at the top of the western division.
