Graham Turner to tackle injury list treatment
Saturday 26th June 2010, 1:02PM BST.
Graham Turner is hoping to empty the Shrewsbury Town treatment room by improving medical records for 2010-11.
Turner has investigated the club’s history of injuries in his first three weeks in charge.
And he is hoping not to be plagued by the same problems which inflicted Paul Simpson’s squad last term.
“I have had a look at the medical records over the last 12 months and, whether it be mis-fortune of whatever, there have been a considerable amount of injuries,” he said.
“There were six hernia operations (including youth team players) in one season and a number of back problems, and we have to look closely at the reasons why.
“It can be unlucky. You can have a season where things go wrong and a lot of surgery is required.
“There are also times when there could be a link of why they had been brought about.
“We will ensure wherever possible all efforts will be put in to making sure players warm up well and warm down well. There will be iced baths and core strength exercises.
“I hope over the coming season to improve the medical record and every precaution will be taken to do that.”
Turner has confirmed physio Nathan Ring will remain at the club, while he is also hoping to unveil his backroom coaching team at the start of next week.

Seemingly a Hereford United old boys reunion is imminent with ex manager John Trewick and fitness coach, 71yr old Tony Ford being rumoured to join up again with Graham Turner. Interesting to say the least.
