Sylvan Ebanks-Blake in Wolves exit link

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy’s warning that a summer of major change is on the way at Molineux has triggered speculation that newly-promoted Blackpool will be on the trail of Sylvan Ebanks-Blake.

The manager this week acknowledged that, with more new signings planned during the close season, some established figures could be pushed into looking for new clubs in pursuit of first-team football.

Ebanks-Blake is under the spotlight after the record-equalling signing of Burnley striker Steven Fletcher last week, which places the Scotland international alongside Kevin Doyle at the top of the forwards’ pecking order at Wolves.

The former England under-21 international endured a nightmare first season at Premier League level, troubled by injury in the build-up to the campaign, then struggling to make an impact before becoming the victim of the tactical switch which saw the team deploy a lone striker in Doyle.

Ebanks-Blake scored just two goals, only one from open play, but has been immediately linked to Blackpool because of his previous spell at Plymouth under Ian Holloway, the former Argyle boss who led the seaside club to a dramatic Premier League promotion last month.

But Holloway has pulled out of any pursuit of Robert Koren, the midfielder released by Albion at the end of last season, because of his wage levels – but could face the same barrier with the Wolves striker.
