John Psaras in as Andy Sinton fills his final spot
Tuesday 8th June 2010, 11:17AM BST.
Boss Andy Sinton has completed his new-look coaching staff at AFC Telford United – bringing in John Psaras from Walsall.
The 45-year-old makes the move to the Bucks after 18 years at the Saddlers, working mainly with their Academy set-up as well as a short stint with the reserves.
He links up with Sinton and assistant manager Darren Read.
“John’s got a lot of contacts in the game and he’s a very good coach,” said Sinton.
“”There will be occasions where one of the three of us can go off to watch games elsewhere and an extra coach will be useful.”
Psaras added: “Getting the chance to work with Andy and Darren and at Telford is a great opportunity for me.
“I think Andy and the club have got a great future and I’m looking forward to being a part of it.”
Meanwhile, Sinton will continue the work of rebuilding his squad tonight as he holds meetings with two more of last season’s players.
He will meet with supporters’ player of the year Liam Blakeman to try and negotiate a new contract for the former Southport man.
And is also holding follow-up talks with Carl Rodgers, with the midfield general expected to put pen to paper on a new one-year contract.
“I’m pretty confident of getting them both tied up,” he said. “They could both have a big part in what we’re trying to achieve.”
Sinton is still waiting for an answer from one transfer target, but revealed that a second may have slipped through the net – after being offered a trial by a club in the Blue Square Premier.
“I’m hoping we’ll have one signed in the next 24 hours,” he confirmed. “Someone else has come in on one target I was hopeful of getting but we have other exciting things in the pipeline.”
