Turner on verge of leaving Bulls
Thursday 3rd June 2010, 12:48PM BST.
Graham Turner, the man linked with an emotional homecoming to Shrewsbury Town, is on the brink of securing his exit from Hereford.
Turner’s 13-year stint at the Bulls, where he has served as manager and chairman, looks set to come to an end within the next 24 hours.
The League Two club have announced a press conference for tomorrow afternoon when a new chairman and vice-chairman will be unveiled.
That will almost certainly be the signal for Turner to leave Edgar Street.
And it will only add fuel to the fire of the rumours linking the popular figure with a return to Shrewsbury, where he was such a success as player and manager in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
Jim Gannon, Mark Venus and Alan Knill are amongst other names that have been linked with the post since Paul Simpson’s departure at the end of April.
And former defender Mike Jackson, who resigned from playing midway through last season, has been mentioned in dispatches with having a role in a future management team at the club.
Shrewsbury’s Board are confident of making an official announcement within the next two weeks.
