Andy Brown staying at Bucks
Wednesday 2nd June 2010, 11:08AM BST.
Star striker Andy Brown has pledged his future to AFC Telford United – agreeing a two-year deal with new boss Andy Sinton.
The Birmingham based hitman top scored with 17 goals last season and had attracted interest from a number of other clubs.
But he has held positive talks with the newly-appointed Telford manager, and reached a verbal agreement before jetting off on holiday today.
“Andy’s getting on a plane having agreed to sign for us last night,” said a delighted Sinton.
“That’s a big plus and a big coup because there were a couple of other clubs after him.
“He’s got the potential to be one of the best strikers in the league and he possibly is already.
“We just need to be getting him into areas to score more goals, but he’s got a bit of everything about him.
“He might have got a better deal somewhere else, but he likes Telford. I rate him and want him here – and that was all the persuasion he needed.”
Meanwhile, Sinton confirmed to a packed fans’ forum at the New Bucks Head last night that goalkeeper Ryan Young had been the first of the existing squad to put pen to paper on a new deal.
Young was at the ground last night to sign the contract, though he has been warned that he will have to fight for his place – with plans in the pipeline to sign a second keeper.
