Sinton stands down at Fleet Town boss

Saturday 15th May 2010, 11:00AM BST.

AFC Telford United managerial wannabe Andy Sinton has resigned as boss of Ryman League club Fleet Town.

The Solihull-based former England international has quit the Hampshire club after five years in charge, having decided that he has taken them as far as he can.

Fleet have suffered play-off heartache three times under Sinton’s control, and won three cup finals in five days this week.

It is not thought the ex-Wolves man has quit because of an imminent appointment at Telford, though he remains keen to be considered after a first interview.

Sinton is one of several names in the frame to succeed Rob Smith, with the likes of Mark Cooper, Jeff Kenna and Jim Harvey also thought to be in the reckoning.
