Shrewsbury 2 Morecambe 3
Sunday 2nd May 2010, 10:05AM BST.
Shrewsbury Town fell to an entertaining defeat against promotion-chasing Morecambe in their first game after the sacking of boss Paul Simpson.
The visitors went two up in the first 16 minutes with goals from Mark Duffy and David Artell.
Dutchman Benjamin van den Broek and substitute Tom Bradshaw drew Town level with goals either side of half-time.
But Artell headed Morecambe in front again and Town missed a chance to rescue a point when Kevin McIntyre’s injury-time penalty hit the bar.

Shame we lost v Morecombe it was a good entertaining game. Our defence will be disappointed with all 3 Morecombe goals, but it was really nice to see us make a change of tactics by bringing Tom Bradshaw on in the first half. Something Simpson rarely did.
I’ve not been a big fan of Bright but he played well yesterday was unlucky not to get a goal. Just a shame we didn’t put the penalty away at the end to get a deserved point.
