Taylor OK a great lift, says captain

Saturday 1st May 2010, 12:29PM BST.

Shropshire will be looking to make it two wins from two in the Minor Counties Trophy campaign in Cheshire tomorrow.

And they have been handed a boost by Steve Taylor’s return to the 13-strong squad.

The pace bowler initially declared himself unavailable, but will now travel to Marple CC for the tie.

Captain Ed Foster said: “Steve is one of our main players and it’s great to have him available for selection.

“We have still called up Alex Huxley and Anthony O’Connor, with Chris Murtagh unavailable, so that give us a strong squad to pick from.”

Shropshire got off to a fantastic start with a crushing 226-run victory over Cumberland last weekend at Shifnal.

“We’ll be trying to build on that momentum,” added Foster.

“We know we’ll probably need three wins to guarantee us getting through to the next round and our next three games against Cheshire, Northumberland and Staffordshire – all difficult fixtures.”
