Midfielder Jon Adams has backed sacked AFC Telford United management duo Rob Smith and Larry Chambers to bounce back – but admitted: “They frustrated me by leaving me out.”

Adams made 39 appearances in all competitions in the season just ended, but regularly found himself on the bench.

He still believes, however, that Smith and Chambers deserve credit for the success they achieved at Telford – and will go on to be a hit partnership elsewhere.

“I’ve been lucky to never have been at a club where the manager was let go before,” the 25-year-old revealed.

“It’s been a good three years playing for them and I’ve enjoyed it.

“I’ve been so frustrated with some of their decisions to leave me out this season, but I’m sure I’ve frustrated them as well.

“They’ll be back (in management), I’m sure of that!”

The race to replace Smith in the Bucks’ hot seat is hotting up, with former Kettering and Peterborough boss Mark Cooper the latest to declare interest.

Jimmy Quinn and Carl Heggs have confirmed that they have applied, while big names including Andy Sinton, Tim Flowers and Des Lyttle have been linked.

But Adams is simply waiting for the process to be over so that the uncertainty of his future – and that of the rest of Telford’s squad – can be resolved.

“I want to be at Telford next season, but it’s out of my hands and all I can do is wait,” he said.

“I hate nothing more than uncertainty, I can’t stand it with anything in life, but the next few weeks are going to be filled with it unfortunately.

“But I will be patient because I absolutely 100 per cent want to stay here.

“I know I can still do a job for this football club.”
