Shropshire welcomes world board racing

Friday 30th April 2010, 11:27AM BST.

The biggest mountainboard competition in the world comes to Shropshire this weekend.

Round one of the ATBA-UK International Mountainboard is taking place at The Edge Mountainboard Centre, near Much Wenlock, tomorrow and Sunday.

It’s a real honour for the Shropshire venue to host the opening round with mountainboarders from as far away as Japan and America taking part.

They will be battling against the best of British riders in fast-paced fourman Boardercross racing on Saturday and going huge with impressive freestyle displays on Sunday.

Raphel La Roche, Chairman of the ATBA-UK said, “The Edge Mountainboard Centre is the perfect place to begin the International Series.

“Anyone who enjoyed watching Snowboarding in the Winter Olympics is going to love mountainboarding in the beautiful Shropshire countryside.”
