Former Shropshire cricket ace James Taylor has been nominated for another top award.
England Lions and Leicestershire batsman Taylor has been picked as one of top three young English players in county cricket.
Captains or coaches from all 18 counties put forward their selections as part of a major feature looking at young English talent in the May issue of The Wisden Cricketer magazine.
Taylor, a former Shrewsbury School pupil, is nominated alongside James Vince (19) from Hampshire and Steve Finn (21) of Middlesex.
After his exploits last season, Taylor picked up the prestigious Cricket Writers Young Player of the Year award and the PCA award.
Taylor was picked by Ashley Giles, Vikram Solanki and Alex Gidman, with England selector Giles saying: “He’s hugely talented in both four-day and one-day formats. He looks a game-player who rises to a challenge.”
Taylor has helped Leicestershire to two victories in the opening two games of this season’s LV?County Championship.
Other young talent earning praise in the survey included another former Shropshire batsman Dan Redfern, who is now at Derbyshire.
The May issue of the Wisden Cricketer is on sale from?April 24.
