Valves firm expands into new Telford factory
A supplier of civil engineering products has launched a new factory in Telford with a £250,000 investment.
Castings Services Group, based in Salford, has opened its new factory on the Hortonwood Industrial Estate after bringing in a new divisional manager, Dave Warner, to run its valves division.
It is the company’s first venture into the West Midlands, but also marks a renewed drive at expanding its valves operation since Mr Warner joined last year.
CSG has invested £250,000 in equipment, property improvements, and stock for the new site, and will be aimed at building on an existing turnover of £1million a year in its valves division, which supplies to the water and wastewater industries.
A number of staff have been brought on board to run the Telford factory, which is already looking at increasing revenues to £2.2 million this year.
That includes diversifying into new areas of industry, including supplying products for use in industrial fire safety, and supplying to other valve companies.
Managing director Roger Fulton said: “The development of this new division in Telford was a natural progression for CSG, and will provide a complementary range of services and products to our core businesses.
“Our aim is to create more inter-divisional work, sharing resources and expertise and working seamlessly together to the benefit of our customers.”
Mr Warner, who comes from near Telford, said: “The new site offers our team of engineers a first class environment in which to carry out a wide range of services, such as the fitting and commissioning of hydraulic, electric and pneumatic actuators as well as the manufacture of ancillary products.
“As a business it will provide the opportunity to offer a larger and more comprehensive range of services, and products to both existing and new customers in this field.”
He added: “It was decided, as I was coming on board, to have a dedicated branch near where I live for the valve business.
“We will generate the orders, do the assembly, tests and delivery.
“The company is looking at growth, and this part of the business is profitable. I would like to see this business up to £5million turnover within five years. There’s potential for diversification.”
CSG is a family run business and has been in operation for 30 years.
As well as its sites in Telford and Salford, the company also has an operation in Derbyshire. The company provides products and services to a range of industries, also including sewage, industrial, telecoms, highways, power generation, biomass, airports and fire industries.
