Monday 10th October 2011, 11:41AM BST.
Heroic Shropshire teenager Charlie Ward brushed shoulders with celebrities as he was named a Radio 1 Teen Hero.
The 16-year-old, from Weston Rhyn, was given the award at Radio One’s Teen Awards ceremony at London’s Wembley Arena.
He was nominated for his heroics when he saved a six-year-old girl who was sucked into a sea drain at Shell Island, North Wales.
Charlie rushed across the road, jumped into the sea and saved her before returning her back to her parents.
Last night, viewers on the BBC red button watched a video interview in which Charlie’s friends and family all said he deserved the award.

The rugby fan was also given a special treat when members of the England Rugby team sent him a special message from New Zealand.
They said: “Well done on your award Charlie, you deserve it.”
Charlie said to hear from his heroes was ‘absolutely amazing’.
The awards were held to recognise some of Britain’s bravest and most inspiring youngsters who have done amazing things in their lives.
The event saw a number of celebrities take part, including pop singer Pixie Lott giving a headline show.
X Factor hitmakers Cher Lloyd and One Direction were also on the bill.
