It’s a busy day at Bridgnorth livestock market, with the auctioneer pacing up and down a plank, taking bids from all sides. This photo dates from March 1957 and over 500 pigs were sold in 45 minutes on this particular occasion.

The demolition of this building in Waterloo Street, Ironbridge, in March, 1986, sparked a protest. Taxi driver Raymond Jarvis parked his car across Waterloo Street, blocking it, because he said workmen ignored his warnings about the building next door to his home, which he said had contained asbestos. The building formerly housed a cinema and milk yard and had been disused for over 15 years.
