Teen beauty spot drinkers are ramblers, not rebels
- Dave Burrows
Here are some musicians from yesteryear whose faces may be familiar to older folk from Jackfield area. This photo was e-mailed in by regular contributor Paul France, of Coalbrookdale, who says: “It shows presentations to William Ellis, conductor of Jackfield Band for many years, and player Mr Gittings. I think Mr Ellis’s was for long service. Incidentally the clock is now back with the band in its trophy cabinet. The location is Jackfield Village Hall and the date is the late 1940s or early 1950s. Other people are, from left: Mr Hearn, Preston Thomas (vicar of St Mary’s Church, Jackfield), Jack Harrison (village baker and band chairman ), Bill Forrester (I think ). “I think the gentleman making the presentation is Lord Forester. Next is Joe Cox who was possibly the longest serving band secretary and finally, Mr Ellis and Mr Gittings.”
