Glamour model Katie Price met hundreds of Shropshire fans this afternoon when she signed copies of her new book, Santa Baby, at Waterstone’s in Telford Shopping Centre.
The headline-grabbing celebrity also had words of thanks and encouragement for those who had queued to meet her, with some having waited for more than five hours.
Katie said: “I love meeting the fans. It’s great. I do this a lot of the time. I hope people like my book.”
First in the queue was Emma Thomas, 25, from Dawley, who had previously met her heroine at Athena nightclub in Telford about 10 years ago.
Emma said: “I got to the shopping centre at 7.30am because she’s amazing and I love her. She’s just a real woman and we can all identify with her because she goes through the same things as girls like us.”

Queuing for hours? I don’t think so!!
I walked past there do do some shopping and there was no queue at all.
Yet again we have reporters embelishing the truth
Report abuse
they were in a holding room near the entrance, I saw them when the door opened….
There were people queuing when I went past at 09:30 anyway, there were a few groups of people sitting on the floor in the corridor that goes up from the town centre information desk. The rest of the queue was through the metal doors that are beside Druckers.
I agree with what has been said about miss price. I’m not a fan. However I went to take my daughter. We queued in the holding room for nearly 3 hours. Staff were selling refreshments. There were hundreds in the queue. So I have to disagree with those who say there was no queue. They just didn’t look into the holding room next door to druckers

“Fans queue for hours to see Katie Price in Telford”
Seriously?
yes , why no one will ever know !!
or could it have been the Job Centre?

Emma said: “I got to the shopping centre at 7.30am because she’s amazing and I love her. She’s just a real woman and we can all identify with her because she goes through the same things as girls like us.”
Say no more…
Report abuse
Queued for hours?. One word. Saddo’s.
Got it in one !!!!!
My colleague walked past the unfortunate place that Katie Price was at. There was no queue…
Report abuse
I WAS IN QUEUE TO SEE KATIE PRICE AND I WAS TICKET 1OO,AND THERE MUST OF BEEN ABOUT 100-200 PEOPLE BEHIND ME.
Can someone explain to me why this talentless non-event keep getting publicity in the media. Does she pay them for the coverage?
I a going to Morrisons to do my weekly shop on Monday. Anyone want to bring their camera?
“Does she pay them for the coverage?”
No. She pays Max Clifford and he does the clever bit.
i was the one who said we was running after a train at 6:15 and we had been waiting outside waterstones since half 7…..
There really are some desperate people in Telford.
Why would ANYONE want to see her? Why?
What does she do? besides the obvious??
Absolutely talent-less.
Come on then anyone who is brave enough to admit they went. Tell me why??
Probably the first, and last time, the majority of that queue went into a bookshop. Oh the humanity.
Judging by the grammar of some of those who claim to have been to see her, it may well have been the first time they’d seen a book in any context.
…AND THERE MUST ‘OF’ BEEN ABOUT 100-200 PEOPLE BEHIND ME…
…i was the one who said ‘we was’ running after a train at 6:15…’
…i was first in the ‘que’ !!!!!!!!!!!…
Ye Gods!
I walked past Waterstones at 12:35 and there was no queue to be seen. The shop had closed its doors awaiting the arrival of the Glamour Model.
There seemed to be a few more people than normal milling around outside the shop but not the Hordes you would expect for a book signing.
Headline should be changed to “A Fan hangs around outside a shop for hours to see Katie Price”

‘She’s just a real woman and we can all identify with her because she goes through the same things as girls like us ‘
As real as a woman that has had that many surgical procedures can be . Disturbing how the ‘ girl ’25 years old who was quoted above met her heroine at athena 10 years ago . that made her 15 at the time ? glad to see people like ‘jordan ‘ are such a positive influence …..

Lmfao
Report abuse
she was amazing we waited for hours and we would do it again
Report abuse
You obviously have too much time on your hands – ever thought of working?
Haven’t you got anything better to do with your time? The celebrity cult which she embodies, sums up what’s wrong with this country.
Chav’s paradise!
A real woman, which parts are left that she was born with then?
Certainly not the brain!
Well for a woman with no brain she is doing pretty damn well.
Mike, that’s the tragedy… She has been very clever at exploiting what she has got. Granted, that’s not a lot… People have, and others will be, mugged by her publicity driven machine. Personally I don’t like her. Anyone who can deny a young fan an autograph because that said fan did not buy any of her “merchandise” doesn’t deserve any credit or celebrity status. (This actually happened to my niece at the Horse of the Year show a couple of years ago..)

If you’ve ever read Epicurus’ 29th Principle Doctrine you wouldn’t be making that statement.

The queen of trash meets her subjects!!
Yep, Seriously. Im a member of the security team. Did you walk by about 2 as thats when everyone had gone in.
I was there at 10.30 am :-) the Queue wasnt outside the book store it was out the way of shoppers opposite
Report abuse
Poor Andy, struggling to get any ‘real’ reason why the fans like her. A difficult feature to do but kept it going just fine. :)
lol i didnt see any que till gone 12
Report abuse
“The headline-grabbing celebrity…” The Shropshire Star certainly fell for that and complied. If people really did queue for even a few minutes then it says everything about what a sad and dumbed-down nation we have become.
Bit like the season ticket holders who pay monkey price for tickets at the Meadow John?
i was first in the que !!!!!!!!!!!
Says it all.
I would assume most Telford people with a modicum of commonsense and intelligence would not give one hoot about this fourth rate celebrity or indeed her ex- Peter Andre, both of whom are ridiculously over-exposed, not least on ITV!
yEAH, I was. You must ave seen me in my orange sleeping bag. I’ve been their since Tuesday.
I personally find it particularly concerning (although perhaps not surprising) that so many young women in Telford see this hideous creature as a role model.
As for the book don’t kid yourselves that she actually wrote the thing!
I don’t know how many young women in Telford see Ms Price as a role model, and I certainly wouldn’t conculde that it must be ‘so many’ based on a sample of just 10/100/1000* people in a bookstore queue (que?)
PS – I’d also suggest that Telford is not unique in having a proportion of its’ population who are celebrity-obsessed, it’s a national trait these days. Good to see the Star helping them with their obsession by slavishly reporting Ms Price’s visit.
*delete according to whose version of events you believe.
Not my cup of tea at all very overrated and fake John challis on the other hand would be worth seein saturday boycee lolxx
Report abuse
QUE why?, however very good business woman and probably achieve more financially than many of her critics.
See my post re. Max Clifford above. She’s not a businesswoman, she’s a human product who’s easily manipulated and all too willing to say “yeah, I’ll do that for cash”.
Are we not all out to make a living?.
who cares as long as she is not scrounging on the benefit train.
Some on here do seem to talk with some unhealthy hatred, and i would assume as is the brit norm a tad bit envy of the easy money she makes. lets face it she does not have to get her kit off much anymore and the dosh rolls on in, Ahhhh the poor folk on only 24 k a year and 37 hour week can but dream .
Yeah, but she’s not a business woman, as some people seem to think and as you said yourself. She’s a product that’s manipulated by other business people. That’s the point I was making.
Agreed and they say a fool and and his/her money are soon parted but not yet.
“She’s just a real woman and we can all identify with her”. What the??? So after making a few quid on the sale of her book, she will have gone back to one of her many cars and gone back to her mansion whist you go back to your modest house (if you have one). Money is’nt everything, but it helps!!!
Forget all the snobbery on here, that interviewer was awful!!
I was in the que to see Katie Price and it was well worth it! If the people who cant stand her so much why even look on the post in the first place
Report abuse
the que was down to katie price having difficulty to spell her own name!
Thats ironic when you cannot spell queue!!! Ha Ha….
It’s queue. Q U E U E. Not que.
Why were people waiting to see her?, pop round the corner to the Entertainer toy shop, you can see her anytime there, under the label listed ‘Mattel Barbie Doll’!
