Fans queue for hours to see Katie Price in Telford

Thursday 3rd November 2011, 2:55PM GMT.

Glamour model Katie Price met hundreds of Shropshire fans this afternoon when she signed copies of her new book, Santa Baby, at Waterstone’s in Telford Shopping Centre.

The headline-grabbing celebrity also had words of thanks and encouragement for those who had queued to meet her, with some having waited for more than five hours.

Katie said: “I love meeting the fans. It’s great. I do this a lot of the time. I hope people like my book.”

First in the queue was Emma Thomas, 25, from Dawley, who had previously met her heroine at Athena nightclub in Telford about 10 years ago.

Emma said: “I got to the shopping centre at 7.30am because she’s amazing and I love her. She’s just a real woman and we can all identify with her because she goes through the same things as girls like us.”

There were people queuing when I went past at 09:30 anyway, there were a few groups of people sitting on the floor in the corridor that goes up from the town centre information desk. The rest of the queue was through the metal doors that are beside Druckers.

I agree with what has been said about miss price. I’m not a fan. However I went to take my daughter. We queued in the holding room for nearly 3 hours. Staff were selling refreshments. There were hundreds in the queue. So I have to disagree with those who say there was no queue. They just didn’t look into the holding room next door to druckers

There really are some desperate people in Telford.
Why would ANYONE want to see her? Why?
What does she do? besides the obvious??
    Absolutely talent-less.
Come on then anyone who is brave enough to admit they went. Tell me why??

Judging by the grammar of some of those who claim to have been to see her, it may well have been the first time they’d seen a book in any context.

…AND THERE MUST ‘OF’ BEEN ABOUT 100-200 PEOPLE BEHIND ME…

…i was the one who said ‘we was’ running after a train at 6:15…’

I walked past Waterstones at 12:35 and there was no queue to be seen. The shop had closed its doors awaiting the arrival of the Glamour Model.

There seemed to be a few more people than normal milling around outside the shop but not the Hordes you would expect for a book signing.

Headline should be changed to “A Fan hangs around outside a shop for hours to see Katie Price”

As real as a woman that has had that many surgical procedures can be . Disturbing how the ‘ girl ’25 years old who was quoted above met her heroine at athena 10 years ago . that made her 15 at the time ? glad to see people like ‘jordan ‘ are such a positive influence …..

Mike, that’s the tragedy… She has been very clever at exploiting what she has got. Granted, that’s not a lot… People have, and others will be, mugged by her publicity driven machine. Personally I don’t like her. Anyone who can deny a young fan an autograph because that said fan did not buy any of her “merchandise” doesn’t deserve any credit or celebrity status. (This actually happened to my niece at the Horse of the Year show a couple of years ago..)

I would assume most Telford people with a modicum of commonsense and intelligence would not give one hoot about this fourth rate celebrity or indeed her ex- Peter Andre, both of whom are ridiculously over-exposed, not least on ITV!

I personally find it particularly concerning (although perhaps not surprising) that so many young women in Telford see this hideous creature as a role model.

As for the book don’t kid yourselves that she actually wrote the thing!

    • Dick James

I don’t know how many young women in Telford see Ms Price as a role model, and I certainly wouldn’t conculde that it must be ‘so many’ based on a sample of just 10/100/1000* people in a bookstore queue (que?)

PS – I’d also suggest that Telford is not unique in having a proportion of its’ population who are celebrity-obsessed, it’s a national trait these days. Good to see the Star helping them with their obsession by slavishly reporting Ms Price’s visit.

See my post re. Max Clifford above. She’s not a businesswoman, she’s a human product who’s easily manipulated and all too willing to say “yeah, I’ll do that for cash”.

Are we not all out to make a living?.
who cares as long as she is not scrounging on the benefit train.

Some on here do seem to talk with some unhealthy hatred, and i would assume as is the brit norm a tad bit envy of the easy money she makes. lets face it she does not have to get her kit off much anymore and the dosh rolls on in, Ahhhh the poor folk on only 24 k a year and 37 hour week can but dream .

        • The Original Jake

Yeah, but she’s not a business woman, as some people seem to think and as you said yourself. She’s a product that’s manipulated by other business people. That’s the point I was making.
