It was one of Shropshire’s most hotly anticipated gigs– and pop princess Jessie J certainly lived up to the hype as she delivered a storming set in Shrewsbury’s Quarry.
As she took to the stage at just after 9pm she immediately got the party started with a rousing rendition of her breakthrough single ‘Do It Like A Dude’.
Ditching her trademark bob in favour of long flowing locks she bounded around the stage playing air guitar as thousands of delighted fans danced in the mud.
Her 75-minute set was packed full of well known hits, including ‘Nobody’s Perfect’ and ‘Who’s Laughing Now’.
And in between songs the singer chatted with fans – sharing random anecdotes about her life. She showed off her impressive vocal range during two R&B covers of Usher’s ‘Climax’ and Luther Vandross’s ‘Never Too Much’.
During the gig the visibly emotional singer said it had been her dream to make music that appealed to all ages.
And if the Shropshire audience was anything to go by she has certainly had her wish – as children, teenagers, as well as mums and dads all danced along together. At one point the singer was almost upstaged when she invited one lucky youngster, named Bradley, up from the crowd to help her sing her famous song ‘Price Tag’.
As the gig drew to a close and the popstar belted out her final song ‘Domino’, everyone in the crowd seemed to be jumping up and down.
The singer rounded off with a breathtaking vocal crescendo as a fantastic firework display was set off behind her – a fitting end to a showstopping performance.
