Shrewsbury Steam Engine and Vintage Vehicle Rally is on Sunday and Monday, so here’s a picture to get you in the mood. The rally began in 1961 in Church Stretton, so is celebrating its golden jubilee this year. This particular photo, by Barry Finch, dates from 1964. It features a Garrett steam traction engine (right,) owned by Frank Painter, of Shrewsbury, attracting a small crowd of admirers just off the A49 at Freddie Brown’s garage. The forthcoming 50th anniversary rally is at Onslow Park, Shrewsbury.
