Superstar Kanye West delighted fans at a huge festival on the south Shropshire border by telling them its was his most important show of the summer.
West was the headline act on Saturday night at the Big Chill Festival at Eastnor Castle in Deer Park, Herefordshire.
He started his show-stopping set half an hour late, appearing from the sound tower in the middle of the main stage field before racing towards the stage through the crowd.
He told revellers: “For me, this is the most important show of my summer. I’m going to try my hardest for you all.”But there were some light boos as he ranted in the middle of his set about being viewed as “insane, like I’m Hitler” by some critics.
The American rapper, 34, later paid tribute to the late Amy Winehouse by closing his set with a medley of her best-known songs.
Former Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant brought the festivities to a close with a headline set last night.
Chemical Brothers, Jessie J, Calvin Harris, Example and Chipmunk also performed during the event, which attracted tens of thousands of visitors to the picturesque castle site.
Melvin Benn, from organisers Festival Republic, said: “To be able to offer such well respected and diverse performances, from our headliners to our international artists and breakthrough names, is a true pleasure and we are thrilled to be able to evolve the musical content of the festival.”
