This week’s pictures from the past – June 10

Friday 10th June 2011, 9:00AM BST.

“Did you receive parcel?” That was the simple message on the back of this postcard, which is of Titterstone Quarries, Clee Hill. The postcard was franked at Cleobury Mortimer on May 19, 1909. It was posted to a Miss Cotterell, of Melrose House, Cook Street, Wednesbury. What Miss Cotterell thought about getting a postcard of a quarry, we don’t know, but she probably thought nothing of it, postcards used to embrace all sorts of subjects and local views. This particular postcard was loaned to us by regular contributor Ray Farlow, a Bridgnorth postcard collector.

A round-up of this week’s Shropshire Star nostalgia pictures.
