The biggest clue to the date of this postcard depicting Coalport Bridge is the car which is passing over. We'll guess at late 1930s, but maybe there's a vintage car buff who can narrow things down by identifying the make and model of the car. The sign at the end of the bridge says: "Weight limit 2 tons. There's a strange absence of any industrial smoke on this early postcard view looking over Coalbrookdale and its famous Coalbrookdale Works. Perhaps the photo was taken on a Sunday or rare works holiday. It was loaned by our regular contributor Paul France, of Coalbrookdale, who says: "I'm not sure of the date, but the railway on the left of the picture looks very new. With a magnifying glass you can see railway sidings and trucks within the factory complex. "You can also see three large chimney stacks. The building in the foreground is the Institute, now run by the Youth Hostel Association."
