Mr Motivator calls in at Buttington Trewern Primary School

Children at a Mid Wales school became the first to try out a new fitness programme launched by a Welshpool mother and TV fitness guru Mr Motivator.

Vicky Bowen and Mr Motivator donned their fitness gear at Buttington Trewern Primary School yesterday to launch Bouncekids, which the former GMTV star is helping Mrs Bowen launch.

Children were put through their paces by the duo, who use fun play methods, dance and song to promote healthy eating and exercise in youngsters.

Mr Motivator, whose real name is Derrick Evans, said: “This is a great thing for children to do and I am delighted that the children here in Mid Wales have taken to it so well. Adults know all about the importance of healthy eating and exercise, but lets make it fun for children to get involved.”

Mrs Bowen, a mother-of-three and founder of Health Matters Education and Busy Feet, added: “This is a really exciting opportunity for me and my family. I am still overwhelmed that Mr Motivator himself will be working with us.”

Mr. Motivator?? Hmmmmmm. Whenever I saw him on TV, the only thing he motivated me to do was switch channels, quickly.

Yes well Colin your a man and probably don’t like exercise much. If he can encourage children today to eat healthy and get more exercise then I am with him all the way. Too many obese kids and adults around these days. Mr Motivator looks pretty good to me for a man whose approaching 60!!

Yes Mum of 5, you are quite correct, I do not like exercise as I am 71, have a damaged sciatic nerve and acute emphysema. Other than that I am as fit as a butchers dog.
My point was, not how fit he was, but how lacking in personality he was. He used to prance about with all the charisma of a chip. Maybe he has improved since, I don’t know.
When I was younger, early teens, I was very fit, played football and took part in track and field events with a modicum of success. This was without the assistance of a fitness guru. My parents saw to the healthy eating, and the school took care of the fitness thing. If today’s children really need someone like him to get the message across, then either the parents or the school are failing, or perhaps both.
