Teen beauty spot drinkers are ramblers, not rebels
- Dave Burrows
A huge crowd has turned out for a traction engine rally at Church Stretton in 1963. The County of Salop Steam Engine & Vintage Vehicle Society celebrates its golden jubilee this year, having been founded in Church Stretton in 1961. Society archivist Mike Llewellyn is staging an exhibition at this summer’s rally at Onslow Park which will chart its history and is appealing for pictures and memories from down the years. Anyone who can help can contact him at michael. llewellyn1@btinternet.com or at (01743) 245835. The rally was born from the death of the Church Stretton carnival in 1961 – when the carnival folded, the traction engine enthusiasts had nowhere to display and so started holding their own rally.
