Meet Cefn Chapel Sunday School in the late 1950s. Mrs Freda Gibbs, nee Edwards, of Station Road, Caersws, loaned us this photo and tells us: "It was held in Buttington Trewern School. I am on this photo as are my two sisters. The chapel is near the school. I am second from the right on the front row. My sister Elizabeth is next to me, and my sister Pamela is third from right on the third row from bottom next to the gentleman."

A huge crowd has turned out for a traction engine rally at Church Stretton in 1963. The County of Salop Steam Engine & Vintage Vehicle Society celebrates its golden jubilee this year, having been founded in Church Stretton in 1961. Society archivist Mike Llewellyn is staging an exhibition at this summer's rally at Onslow Park which will chart its history and is appealing for pictures and memories from down the years. The rally was born from the death of the Church Stretton carnival in 1961 - when the carnival folded, the traction engine enthusiasts had nowhere to display and so started holding their own rally.
