Shrewsbury nursery in knees and toes Guinness record attempt
Tuesday 1st March 2011, 2:30PM GMT.
Youngsters at a Telford nursery were today attempting to break a Guinness World Record – by taking part in the largest joint performance of Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes.
Children from Childcare Support nursery in Madeley were taking part in the Chatterbox Challenge in a bid to raise funds for the I-Can charity supporting children with communication difficulties.
They were joined by other schools and nurseries across the county and nationwide including Jay’s Nursery at Belvidere School, on the Telford Estate in Shrewsbury, and the Kidzone group based in the Eastern Oswestry Community Centre.
Mandy Beer, manager at Childcare Support, said: “This is about helping people with speech and language development, which is something we focus on in the nursery. We do all sorts of activities around speech and language and we monitor the children from ass soon as they join us.
“The record attempt was brilliant and we had 31 children, staff and parents taking part.
Chrissi Harris manager at Jay’s Nursery, said about 50 people including children, parents and teachers took part in the event after being inundated with sponsorship forms.
“The challenge is raising money for the I-Can charity.”
