Meet the cast of Dick Whittington and his Cat which was performed by Hanmer Operetta Society on January 21 and 22, 1937. This photo was e-mailed in by Scott Peate who tells us: “I have recently obtained an old photograph and programme from my grandmother, Violet Peate, who is now 88. The photograph is of the cast of Dick Whittington which was performed in Hanmer village back in the 1930s. “My grandmother was Violet Whitfield when this photograph was taken. I live in Hanmer and she now lives in Penley. I believe that the building in the background is the old village hall which is no longer there and is now the Beech Close housing estate. My grandmother is in the front row and she is the second from the cat, left.”
