Going, going, gone . . . Demolition men are pulling down the railway bridge between Bridgnorth station and the tunnel running below High Town. This picture, taken in April 1967, shows the work being undertaken to make the thoroughfare safer for traffic. Hollybush Road was closed to allow workmen to do the job, and they are seen here winching part of the bridge structure on to the back of a truck. The low bridge had been a traffic hazard for many years and had not been in use since the closure of the Severn Valley line three years earlier. However, steam enthusiasts were to begin running trains again on the line south of the town three years later.

some excellent nostalgia this week. i do not profess to know all the vehicles, but the pair of quads may be ex war dept morris commercials with a thorneycroft lorry, and the harvesting scene may depict a wartime fordson tractor with spud type rear wheels. the lorry is a mystery.
