Pictures from the Past – Week Ending October 2, 2010

Friday 1st October 2010, 11:00AM BST.

The Margaret Morris Movement, West Midlands, has hosted a residential weekend for over 40 years. This picture was taken at the 1975 course at the Lilleshall Hall National Sports Centre. The man centre is Jim Hastie, MMM's artistic director. Next to him on the right, as you look at the picture, is Maureen Millard. To the left of Jim is Leila Shaw, who was the West Midlands organiser. The MMM is celebrating its centenary and this photo comes from Jacqueline Harper, MMM administrator, of Buildwas who, after consulting Maureen about who's who, provides the following key: "Back row from left , first Jean Fletcher, fourth Sylvia Stait (sadly died of cancer two years ago November and always brought a group of ladies from Wolverhampton - even the year she died), eighth Gwen Philpotts. "Second row, from front from left: first Fred Shaw, third Janet (Little Sue's mum), fourth is the pianist, fifth Leila Shaw, sixth Jim Hastie, eighth Maureen Millard, ninth 'Little Elsie'. Front row, from left, second 'Little Sue'." Others who were part of this group include "Pat, Elsie, Beryl Dodd, Joyce, Pat Beedle, Chris Mansell, Jessica, Jill Simmonds and Rosalie". Incidentally MMM is a dance and fitness regime - more details on www.margaretmorrismovement.com
