Star Picture competition needs your vote
Tuesday 7th September 2010, 10:29AM BST.
Shropshire Star readers are being invited to vote for their favourite picture – and help one lucky photographer to win a £150 prize.
These 10 images have been shortlisted for the “readers’ choice award” in Telford Shopping Centre’s open photography competition.
The competition, run by the centre in conjunction with the Shropshire Star, encouraged budding photographers of all ages to submit their favourite pictures in different categories – pets, nature and the great outdoors, and Shropshire sights.
It was split into three age categories; under 11, 12-17, and 18 and over.
Shopping centre photographer Craig Holmes, a former Shropshire Star snapper, chose 10 pictures from a selection of categories to be considered for the readers’ choice award.
The winner, who receives the highest number of votes on Shropshirestar.com, will receive £150 worth of vouchers from Jessops in Telford.
Tracy Hadley, marketing and events manager at the centre, said: “We regularly hold competitions for the kids during the summer break, so for once thought it’d be great to get the whole family involved.
“This competition was open to all budding snappers in Shropshire, whether they are pursuing a career behind the lens or simply see it as a hobby.”
A selection of photographs entered into the competition are also being displayed in Wyre Hall at Telford Shopping Centre.
