Nostalgia round-up – August 21, 2010

Friday 20th August 2010, 9:56AM BST.

A pleasant brook, a bridge, and a vernacular - cart . . . this is a scene evocative of the Shropshire countryside of yesteryear. It is in fact the footbridge and ford at Clunton, near Clun. The picture is undated, but we must be talking about 90 years ago or more. That bridge is long gone, by the way, although there is a more modern bridge. Picture: Ray Farlow

the interior view of the midland red garage at ditherington is of interest. my guess is it was taken about 1951 as the rear bus is a prewar model and the front bus is one of the modern post war underfloor models. as a guess the rear bus reg. number may have been cha 505 and the front bus reg. no, hha and numbers. i am building quite a collection of photos of shrewsbury based midland red buses up to about 1965
