Fans peek behind scenes at Shrewsbury Town
Monday 2nd August 2010, 6:30PM BST.
Football fans got the chance to go behind the scenes at Shrewsbury Town Football Club at the weekend.
The club welcomed the public yesterday to its annual open day.
The free event offered plenty to see for all of the family.
The attractions on offer included watching players going through their training routines on the pitch.
The players then signed autographs and posed for photos with supporters.
There were also stadium tours throughout the day with a chance to see dressing rooms, the gym, control box and board room.
Attractions included the executive team bus and the Community Sports Trust inflatable shooting gallery.
Jon Harris, general manager of the club, said: “We had between 1,800 and 2,000 people at the open day which was our best ever turnout.
“The club shop was open and people had the chance to buy the 125th season shirt for the first time.
“People could also meet the players and management team – the manager signed autographs for two and a quarter hours. They could also watch a warm up session and go on a tour of the pitch.
“It’s important for fans to be able to get up close and meet the team.”
The club shop was open throughout the day for people to buy the new season’s kit and the ticket office was also open.
The supporters groups, SuperBlues, Official Supporters Club and the shrewsTrust were all in attendance.
