Thousands of people soaked up the sights and sounds of the annual street fair in Montgomery, organisers said today.

Crowds of family and friends lined the streets and basked in glorious sunshine to celebrate the annual event.

Organisers said the fair, which was held on Saturday, was as successful as ever with up to 2,000 people attending.

Simon Bedford, spokesman, said it was one of the main event’s of the year for the town.

He said: “The amount of people attending was tremendous and we were extremely pleased with the turnout. We’ve never had this many people attend before but I think the nice weather certainly helped make it the success it was.

“One of the main highlights for me was the Samba band who performed with a breakdancing crew. It was something different and they worked very well together. The main purpose of the event is to attract people into the town to see what it has to offer in the hope that they’ll keep coming back to visit.

“Everything went really well on the day and we are now looking forward to holding next year’s event.”

He said the fair was free to enter and focused on local arts and crafts was centred in the town’s main square.

“We had a lot of positive feedback from people this year and we had something for everyone to see and enjoy,” he added.

“We would like to thank everyone who attended and those who helped organise it because without their support this event would not have been possible.”
