Here is an early 1900s postcard of a village shop, possibly in Newcastle-on-Clun – we’re not entirely sure. It was posted to Miss M Richards, of Riddings Farm, Bettws-y-Crwyn. The signs by door are for Colman’s Starch and Colman’s Mustard and what looks like Campbell’s Cleaners Perth. The picture was loaned by Jan Cockerill, of Wellington, whose great-grandparents were the Pugh and Morris families, who lived in the Clun and Bettws-y-Crwyn areas.
