It’s about a pay rise for people in the public sector.

You may have noticed Jeremy Corbyn and some of his Labour colleagues were wearing the same badge during PMQs.

If you were wondering what it stood for, it’s the badge belonging to the Scrap the Cap campaign.

The campaign, from the Royal College of Nursing trade union, has been calling for an end to the 1% pay cap for those working in the public sector.

These workers have seen the value of their incomes fall in relation to inflation after two years of pay freezes and four years of annual caps since 2010.

But Corbyn has put forward an amendment to the Queen’s Speech for a review on that cap.

The Labour leader has called for the cap to be scrapped in order to give emergency workers and other public servants “a fair pay rise”.

Downing Street has signalled that it’s ready to review the 1% cap, with a senior No 10 source saying that Theresa May had “heard the message” that voters were “weary” of austerity.

The Commons will vote on the amendment later today.
