Girl 'seriously injured' after being hit by car on Shrewsbury's Mytton Oak Road

A busy Shrewsbury road was closed and a girl taken to hospital with "serious injuries" after being hit by a car.

Mytton Oak Road was closed in both directions close to the Co-op Store after the crash at about 5pm on Monday.

A West Mercia Police said: "The incident involved a silver Peugeot that was in collision with a child.

"The child has been taken to hospital having sustained serious injuries. Next of kin have yet to be informed.

"A full investigation has been launched and we are appealing for information for any witnesses who may have seen the incident, or who may have seen the vehicle before it happened. Please contact West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident 589S of 24 July."
