5,400 jobs???!! Whoever came up with that comedy projection needs to show their working. Farcical figure.

Probably the same idiot / sandle wearing/ car hating, environmentalist who thought up the "improvements" to Shawbirch roundabout, I cannot see what improvement is being gained even after spending the sums of money that they have, I will actually predict that there will be more crashes as people come of the Shawbirch rounabout and have to filter from two to one lane.

I notice that after their crowing about those roadworks finishing early (which was a lie anyway), they've kept very quiet about the overnight closures going on for the next two weeks. How strange. Perhaps nobody will notice.

Overnight closures possibly going on for three weeks.

They have no evidence of job creation due to traffic roundabout 'improvements' total fabrication by T & W cabinet member for highways Cllr A McClements.

Utter nonsense

Limekiln Bank Priorslee. Before roadworks = 2 lanes on roundabout, get in left lane to take first or second exit, and right lane to go to third exit or back to where you started, simples!!. Now... 3 lanes on roundabout. Left lane is now 1st exit, or, straight on. Middle lane is straight on, or 3rd exit, and right lane is also 3rd exit or back on yourself. Quite often i have seen 3 cars "abrest" on the roundabout and a number of near misses with cars moving across lanes. Absolute waste of time, money and increased risk of accidents. When will these road planners ever learn. More is not always better, infact its usually worse!!

The island at shawbirch looks like a massive chocolate cake that you could build a couple of semi detached on, looks more of a pinchpoint now than before, but still when they bung lights on it it will be ----ed up like the rest of Telfords brightly lit traffic islands

I was thinking that, it seems less likely that you could get 2 cars side by side now than before, I really can't see any improvement but hey ho we've found a use for a few million pounds that was sitting idle...it's not like the country needs that money elsewhere, is it?

There was nothing wrong with Shawbirch island except the road markings needed repainting to show the left hand lane went to Apley/Hortonwood and the right hand lane went straight on. Visibility on the island was good. Now its far too large, cars coming round the island are not visible but will probably be going faster round the island.

There is nothing wrong with the island at Ketley, other than stupid drivers.

As will all these other projects on the islands, they are unnecessary but keep people like McPhillips and their workforce busy.

Why is Rampart Way becoming dual carriageway when the problems are clearly with the island at the top - too large and badly marked out.

Just wasting money, and who comes up with these titles 'Growth Point Package' anyway?

"Just wasting money, and who comes up with these titles 'Growth Point Package' anyway?"

I do wonder whether it's because the normal complaint when they allow yet another housing estate to be built is that the roads can't cope, therefore they have to be seen to be doing something whether it helps or not and a jazzy phrase is designed to make it seem more clever than it actually is.

As others have said I can't see the Shawbirch changes helping, especially when they build the Maxell estate (for which no doubt there will be endless roadworks again) and when the rat runners to the Allscott development start using it.

One thing that I note from all the comments I have seen so far, is that nobody thinks the expensive "improvements" to the roundabouts are going to make any difference, and that the person who has thought up the changes appears to be a totally clueless moron, lacking any idea to what an improvement is and doing their very best - and succeeding - in annoying the general public. I suspect they do not care because they will put on their sandles and get on their bike and not give a flying fig about car drivers.

Do Councillors actually study what is put in front of them or not ?

jim jams

Err no, why would you expect them to do that?
