Plans for homes on Shrewsbury's old Salopian Brewery site

The derelict site of a former brewery in Shrewsbury will be turned into a small housing development after planning chiefs gave the scheme the green light.

Buildings at the former Salopian Brewery site in Mytton Oak Road in Copthorne, Shrewsbury, will be demolished and the site will be used to build nine homes. The redundant industrial unit will be used to build nine homes with car parking.

There will be two four-bedroom houses with detached garages and seven two-bedroom homes.

The original dairy building, which fronts on to Mytton Oak Road, will be extended to create a luxury home.

The plans had met with opposition from nearby residents who said that the site would be overdeveloped and this would lead to a loss of privacy. Concerns were also raised over traffic.
