It is a sight which has been making drivers do a double-take as they travel past – after all a ship sinking in a field is not something you see every day.

But this Vote Leave vessel has been taking shape on the Cressage straight near to The Riverside Inn, eight miles from Shrewsbury.

And on Friday the ship, which is emblazoned with the message 'Vote Leave – 78 million boarding soon', will be officially launched at 2.30pm by West Midlands MEP and Vote Leave campaigner Jill Seymour, who faces losing her job if the country votes to quit the EU.

The ship, which has been called the EU Boat, will be officially unveiled at a ceremony at nearby Cound Hall, home to businessman David Sykes-Waller who has come up with the scheme.

Brexit campaigners from across the West Midlands will attend the ceremony which will be held in the grounds of the hall.

They plan to christen the vessel with some 'EaU' water, being brought over from Brussels, to symbolise the British taxpayer's money it is claimed the European Union is spending.
