As I walk through Shrewsbury Town Centre I cringe at the scruffy lot I see. Dirty, scruffy, stained, sometimes torn, jeans seems to be the order of the day, with, of course, the inevitable scruffy T-shirt.

‘Drug addicts to get free gym passes’. Fire up the outrage bus. Hold on a minute though. The facts are we cannot eradicate illegal drugs and some people become addicts.

I would like to thank all the staff employed at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, regardless of their roles, for the excellent care which I received as an inpatient – from the A&E department through to the cardiac care ward.

Your editorial headline on March 8 was spot on: ‘Green land is an asset, don’t ruin it’. And it doesn’t just apply to the countryside.

I would like to express my anger at the decision not to screen The Artist in Telford.

Will someone in authority please explain to me the need for yet another shopping mall in Shrewsbury when the two we already have have never been filled?

While the decision whether Tesco builds a supermarket in Tenbury Wells looms over us, this is a plea to district councillors to turn this application down.

The recent meeting held with regards to the wind turbine proposals for an area of countryside across Minsterley and Worthen showed the depth of feeling and anger among the community which these blots on the landscape will affect.
