Power cut hits homes in Shrewsbury

A faulty electricity cable in a village near Shrewsbury left several homes without power for up to three hours.

The cable in Weston Road, Minsterley, developed a fault at 5.30pm.

An engineer from Western Power was sent out and isolated the power supply before carrying out repairs.

Power was restored at about 8.30pm.

Firefighters from Bishop's Castle were also called out as a precaution in case the faulty cable started a fire.
