Ann Kirkham, 58, from Yew Tree Drive, Bayston Hill, near Shrewsbury, was one of two People’s Postcode Lottery winners on the street who scooped the cash.

Ann, who was presented her cheque alongside daughter Stacey by television star Matt Johnson, said she was delighted to win – and is now planning a holiday.

“Winning is extra special at this time of year,” she said. “I work as a housekeeper, but I’d like to finish up soon and get a dog for my retirement. I’d really like a Cockapoo.

“My husband and I have been saving for a holiday home for the last couple of years so we’ll be able to start looking for one to buy near the sea.

“We normally go abroad, but as we get older we want somewhere we can go to more often in this country. It’s something that the children and grandchildren can enjoy too.”

SY3 0PY was drawn as the Street Prize winner on Sunday. The other winner was unavailable was comment.

People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Matt Johnson presented the cheque to Ann on her doorstep.

He said: “We battled through the snow to deliver Ann’s cheque and what a wonderful surprise she got just before Christmas.

“Next year promises to be full of surprises for even more winners with £130 million of prizes to be won. If you’re not playing, what are you waiting for?”
